5 Fail Proof gifts for photographers

1. Memory cards

I promise you, I never have enough memory cards! There’s several types at different price points, so I’ll share a few options here.

Based on your budget, you can choose from different storage sizes as well (gigabytes).

In order of least expensive:

  1. Samsung Micro SD card – this comes with the full adapter to go in your camera, but the versatility that it can also go in my GoPro or DJI drone is awesome.
  2. Sandisk Pro SD card – regular sized card
  3. ProGrade SD card – writes faster than other SD cards, so if you’re shooting in burst mode often this is a great option.
  4. Sony Tough SD card – if you have a Sony camera with a CFexpress type A slot, this was made for the camera. Another great option if you’re shooting in burst mode often (think: sports & wildlife).

2. Memory card Holder

I have a few different memory card cases, but for on the go and traveling I prefer this one from Nomatic.

3. Batteries

Here’s another item I’ll never have enough of! Unfortunately for a camera battery itself, you’ll need to know which camera your photographer is using.

A simple google search should tell you what battery the camera takes, but most Sony batteries do use this one: Sony NPFZ100 Z-series Rechargeable Battery Pack

Please note: I do not recommend buying off brand camera batteries. They never last as long and are not made for the camera.

4. Battery holder

If you don’t know the name of the camera, consider purchasing a battery holder! I love this one by Nomatic.

5. Lighting

With the rise of video conferencing, I think everyone is familiar with ring lights. But truth be told, I am not a big fan of the harsh lighting a ring light can create. While I have a couple ring lights, I haven’t used them in years (and I actually use soft boxes as lamps around my house!)

Lume Cube has re-created the soft box into smaller and more portable options. Here’s a couple examples under $100:

Lighting is another thing where you can always use a few pieces, so don’t be shy if you’re unsure whether or not your photographer already has one!

Finding the perfect gift for a photographer doesn’t have to be a challenge. These fail proof gift ideas cater to their passion for capturing moments and will undoubtedly enhance their photography experience. Show your support and appreciation for their artistry with a thoughtful and practical gift that they’ll cherish for years to come.
